Manish Sisodia, the Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, claimed on Friday that the Delhi administration had effectively managed to keep inflation under control in the city, even amid the Covid-19 outbreak.
According to Sisodia, the average annual inflation rate based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Delhi in 2020-21 was only 3%, compared to 5% nationally. In addition, while the countrywide level of inflation for food prices was 5.7 per cent, it was only 4.1 per cent in Delhi, the lowest in the country. As a result of all of these initiatives, living in Delhi is much cheaper than in other cities.
