The list of candidates contesting for the 2020-21 Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) elections has been released. The contesting candidates are Senior Advocates Vikas Singh, Priya Hingorani, Kailash Vasdev, Dr. Adish Chandra Aggarwala and advocates Ashok Arora and Ajay Mandyal.Senior Advocates Pradeep Kumar Rai, SB Upadhyay, R Balasubramanian, and Advocates DD Sharma and SS Gupta will battle for the post of Vice President.
Advocates Amit Anand Tiwari, Vikram Yadav, Harpreet Singh Sandhu, Surjendra Singh Nehra, Ardhendumauli Kumar Prasad, and Manish Kumar will contest for the post of Secretary. Advocates Meenesh Kumar Dubey, Rajesh Kumar Maurya, Pradeep Kumar Yadav and Yugandhara Pawar Jha will be contesting for the post of Treasurer.
The team from AIIMS had visited the Supreme Court premises after a request to that effect was made by the Additional Registrar of the Supreme Court.The AIIMS team's opinion was solicited after Chief Justice of India SA Bobde urged representatives of the SCBA to consider seeking a medical expert opinion before holding physical elections.The SCBA elections are scheduled to be held on February 27.
