The government has taken a step to increase the time limit under the Vivad Se Vishwas scheme to make payment. This step is much needed amid the second wave of the COVID-19.
"It has also been decided that time for payment of amount payable under the Direct Tax Vivad se Vishwas Act, 2020, without an additional amount, shall be further extended to 30th June 2021," Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
The timeline was finished on March 31 2021 which was also increased due to the pandemic. This scheme is generally for the benefit of the taxpayers who have not paid their tax. It gives some exemptions from the offenses under Income Tax Act, interest, penalty.
