Sudan, a northeast country in Africa, signed the Abraham Accords with the US to normalize the relations with Israel. Sudan is the third country after the UAE and Bahrain. Accords were signed on the visit of US Treasury Steven Mnuchin to Arab League member Sudan. Alongside, an agreement worth $1.2bn was signed to clear the arrears of Sudan to the World Bank.
The agreement is seen as the fruit of the civilian-majority government which was formed after ousting Omar-al-Bashir in April 2019. The Prime minister Abdallah Hamdok and General Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman are in the power-sharing deal since then. Last year in December the US put Sudan out of the " state sponsors of terrorism". Abraham Accords are considered as one of the achievement of Trump administration.
