Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader accused the Central Government of the Rafale fighter jet deal after the claims of French media about paying 1.1 million Euros to a middleman by Dassault Aviation i.e., the Aircraft manufacturer. However, the ruling party denied the allegations as baseless.
In September 2016, India & France signed an inter-governmental agreement for the acquisition of 36 aircraft following clearance from the Indian Cabinet Committee on Security. A couple of days following the deal, Congress started accusing the Central Government of escalation of prices and wrongdoings in the Agreement. In the 2019 Lok Sabha, besides making it a big issue, Congress lost the elections badly.
Following claims of French Media, Congress said that Gandhi’s allegations were proved correct. Rahul Gandhi tweeted that “Karma = The ledger of one's actions. Nobody escapes it. #Rafale”. He wrote this tweet in the Hindi language.
