Punjab Assembly passes resolution against Centre's notification to expand BSF jurisdiction

    in News Updates

The Punjab Assembly has passed a resolution against the Union government's notification to expand Border Security Force (BSF) jurisdiction. It has been demanded that the notification be withdrawn with immediate effect. Recently, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs had announced to extend or widen the area of jurisdiction for BSF in three states with international borders. The new notification for extending jurisdiction has replaced the order in 2014 under BSF Act 1968. The jurisdiction will now enhance the area share for BSF in three more states with international borders, such as Assam, West Bengal and Punjab.
