On Friday, April 9, 2021, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that “it is irresponsible on the part of the CBSE to force students to appear for Board examinations and demanded that the exams be either canceled or should be rescheduled in the view of COVID-19 situation prevailing in the country.” She said that the Board exams should be either canceled or should be conducted in such a manner that it does not require the physical presence of students. She tweeted on her tweeter handle that “It is downright irresponsible of boards like the CBSE to force students to sit for exams under the prevailing circumstances. Board exams should either be canceled, rescheduled, or arranged in a manner that does not require the physical presence of children at crowded exam centers”
As per the revised date sheet for CBSE board exams 2021, the Board exams of class 10th would be conducted between May 4 and June 7 and for Class 12th they would be held between May 4 and June 15. However, India is currently experiencing a margin of over one lakh cases reported every day. It should be marked that on Friday morning, as per official data, the number of newly reported cases in India of COVID-19 was almost 1.32 lakh. And hence the students have raised a demand for holding online examinations, over one lakh students have already signed a petition to the CBSE for the same. but the CBSE officials, conveyed that as per the COVID guidelines the examination centers have been increased by 40-50 percent across the country so as to ensure proper social distancing among students.
