
A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court against former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti, who made a controversial statement about tricolour. Lawyer Vineet Jindal has filed the petition, saying that Mufti’s statement is an insult to the national flag. “Statement made by the respondent (Mufti) pointing the Indian Government that ‘dacoits snatched our flag’. In this statement, it is quite clear that she is using this derogatory and instigating statement against the duly elected Indian Government. It is an inciting statement which intends to create hatred and unrest among the communities and waging war against the duly elected government of this country as she is an influential and public personality,” claimed the Petitioner. The Petition has demanded the registering of a case against Mufti for the offence u/s 4 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act and U/s 121, 153, 153A, 295, 298, 504 & 505 of the I.P.C.
