The CJI SA Bobde declined to entertain PIL and asked for the petitioners to move Calcutta High Court for the same. The plea filed asked for the CBI inquiry for the Mamata Banerjee leg injury case. Mamata Banerjee alleged that she got her leg injured when some people attacked her and on the other hand it was also reported that she got her leg injured by the pole.

The legal point which the petitioners raised was that due to these cases a campaign is moved against the senior election officials. They asked for the guidelines and increase in punishments to stop election violence and a temporary body to be established for the same.
