North India received showers on Sunday and the Indian metrological department, director general Murtyunjay Mohapatra said that heavy rainfall at isolated places in the north is predicted by Monday morning.
Parts of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh received heavy rainfall where in Rajasthan, ten people including seven children were killed, thirteen got injured and thirteen animals include ten goats and three cows were killed by lightning. In Uttarpradesh ten people, including two teens were killed by lightning.
Uttarakhand region has also witnessed the same, three people including an eight-year-old boy killed after their house collapsed in a landslide due to heavy lighting and rain.
Rain continues to batter places of south i.e.the IMD has issued an Orange alert for Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts of Kerala and a Yellow alert for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, and Palakkad districts. Kerala as they got issued an orange alert with five other norther states and a red alert warning for coastal Maharashtra.
IMD also acknowledged fishermen not to venture into fishing as they have predicted heavy showers in some parts till 14th July. Though some regions are getting alert, still some states like Delhi received less rainfall than normal and it got placed in the category of rain deficient states in the country.
Whereas some states are prevailing sultry weather conditions, like in Haryana and Punjab with maximum temperatures above the normal.
The IMD said very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, the Gujarat region, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana, coastal and south interior Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
Prediction of the Indian Metrological Department turned to be vague as monsoon forecast for Delhi and its nearby places got shortfall of rain.
The expert opined that wrong and unclear signals are difficult in predicting and to interact accordingly.
