Image Source: scroll.in Comedian Kunal Kamra and cartoonist Rachita Taneja were asked to submit a response within the time period of 6 weeks and told them that there is no need of appearing in person in the court. Both of them had criticised the top court i.e. Honorable Supreme Court via Facebook and Twitter respectively on the issue of granting the bail plea to Arnab Goswami in Anvay Naik's suicide case. The Three-judge bench issued show cause notice to both on the pleas seeking to initiate contempt proceedings against them. In light of this the Supreme Court asked them to file their responses within 6 weeks. On Thursday dated 17 December,2020, the SC had reserved its order on whether to issue a show cause notice or not. Comedian Kunal Kamra put out the criticizing comments on Supreme Court in the manner how fast trackedly they heard the case of Arnab Goswami whereas the thousands of undertrials languishing are going on. Many people wrote letters to the Attorney general of India asking to initiate contempt proceedings against him before the matter was taken by Supreme Court. Also, Rachit Taneja who is a cartoonist and a creater of webcomic sanitary pads also created some posts which clearly indicated that supreme court was biased towards the ruling party BJP. The Attorney general of India gave Assent to initiate contempt proceedings against her to on December 1,2020.
