Madhya Pradesh High Court disposes of PIL for moving old Katra Police Chowki

The Jabalpur Bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court recently disposed of a PIL seeking a direction to the respondents to remove the old construction of Katra Police Chowki in District Sagar.

The PIL has been filed by Dr Vikash Saraf, who prayed for a direction to the respondents to remove the old construction of Katra Police Chowki situated on the main road and to relocate it to any other appropriate place under the Smart City Mission Project keeping in view the increased population and consequential congestion on the road in question.

Akash Singhai, Advocate for the petitioner, in support of his arguments cited the photographs of the site showing the proposal under the Smart City Project.

The Division Bench of Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq and Justice Satyendra Kumar Singh while considering the PIL opined the petitioner should approach the Collector of the District Sagar.

The Court ruled that Collector, Sagar, in consultation with the C.E.O., Smart City Project, the Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Sagar and Superintendent of Police, Sagar take a decision, in the best interest of the public keeping in view the policy of the State, on the representation dated July 5 submitted by the petitioner.
