Imprisonment for five years, fine of up to 10 lakh, draft for the protection of lawyers
Legal measures are being taken in the country to protect from assaults on legal professionals. A regulation is being added on this regard. The draft of the Lawyers’ Safety and Security Bill has now been made public by the ‘Bar Council of India’ for the opinion of all the stakeholders. In view of the growing incidents of assaults on legal professionals in recent years, a committee of 7 professionals has organized the blueprint of the bill. The committee has senior advocates and plenty of experienced office-bearers from institutions and organizations related to legal professionals.

Feedback, recommendations and proposals for adjustments might be obtained from lawyers throughout the country, their affiliated establishments and organizations on the bill.
