
Recently Kerala has reported about 4,353 fresh Covid cases on Thursday, the highest in the past few days. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has also tested positive for COVID-19. Vijayan had previously taken his first dose of the COVID vaccine. After which he confirmed his infection via his tweeter handle. He tweeted that "I have been confirmed Covid +ve. Will get treated at the Government Medical College, Kozhikode." Also, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said tweeted that “he spoke with the chief minister, who is hospitalized after testing COVID positive. His health is stable. I wish Hon'ble chief minister and family members speedy recovery."
Furthermore, Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and DMK supremo M K Stalin wished for the 75-year-old Vijayan a speedy recovery. The sources have relieved that the CM Vijayan, has been shifted to the Kozhikode Medical college from Kannur. And The CM himself has also requested to all those people who came in contact with him recently, to go into 'self-observation. Source also asserted that the CM was asymptomatic. Earlier Chief Minister's daughter Veena Vijayan and son-in-law P A Mohammed Riyas had tested positive for COVID. Vijayan, was the CPI(M) candidate from Dharmadam in Kannur, recently had traveled extensively throughout the state during the campaign for the April 6 Assembly polls. He had also participated in the roadshow at Dharmadam on the last day of the campaign.
Meanwhile, the party sources claimed that the Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy has also tested positive. The 77-year-old Chandy, who contested from Puthuppallyin Kottayam, was not been keeping well for the past two days, and thereby he tested positive for the virus, the sources claimed. He is expected to be shifted to a private hospital here. The Governor wished Chandy for a speedy recovery.
