Donald Trump on Wednesday became the first press in the US history to be impeached twice. Democratic-house charged Trump with the charges of 'inciting insurrection. Ten republicans followed Democrats for impeaching Trump by 232-197.
He would be facing trial in senate where if he gets convicted, then he will be permanently debarred from holding office.
According to US-president elect Joe Biden, the attack on US Capitol was planned, coordinated and incited by Trump.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi few days back said that either Mike Pence will invoke the 25th amendment or they had to start the impeachment proceedings against Trump through passing a resolution.
“We know that the president of the United States incited this insurrection," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said before the vote. She called Trump “a clear and present danger to this country that we all love."
“In all of this, President Trump gravely endangered the security of the United States and its institutions of government," the impeachment article states. “Donald John Trump engaged in high Crimes and Misdemeanors by inciting violence against the Government of the United States."
The voting debate continued for three hours and then the proceedings took place. It was the same chamber where Presidents Andrew Johnson, Bill Clinton and Trump were impeached for the first time. But none of them were convicted by the Senate.
