The world's second-richest man, Elon Musk who is the founder of Tesla has made its debut by registering a company named Tesla India Motors and Energy in Bengaluru.
It is not still clear whether the company will deal in R&D, Sales and Manufacturing.
Founder Elon Musk last year hinted that it would soon start selling its cars in India in 2021.Union road transport and Highways minister Nitin Gadkari pointed out that Tesla will commence selling its cars in 2021. For this purpose it would be evaluating the assembling or manufacturing based on the market responses they will recieve.
It is also known that the Us electric carmaker will associate with atleast one of the auto-engineering companies in Bengaluru for R&D.Tesla India Motors and Energy has an authorised capital of Rs 15 lakh and has its registered office on Lavelle Road in Bengaluru.
According to Karnataka's industries minister Jagadish Shettar, “While the firm has now registered, there is still no clarity what they would do here. This is the first step, and our officials led by the principal secretary are in constant dialogue with the firm. The government is prepared to extend support to the firm.”
India in general and Bengaluru in particular is gradually becoming a big hub of automotive engineering.
