The 2-judge Gauhati High Court heard the petition regarding the non-implementation of many schemes among which Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is one of them in the state of Nagaland.

The bench of Chief Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Justice Achintya Malla Bujor Barua issued notice to the Union of India, State of Nagaland and others, and asked them to file the counter in 3 weeks.

The Petitioner, Global Trust Club, has raised issues of non-implementation of many schemes like the development works particularly related to the supply of water to the rural areas. It also raised the issue that despite fundings from the Union Government for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Nagaland Government has not implemented it.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of 145th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October 2014. It is the sanitation drive to achieve the mission of universal sanitation.
