The Union Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri informed that the union cabinet has cleared the Silk Board, an ambitious plan of Bangalore Metro, which is about Rs 14,788 crores. This plan is being implemented by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation in 2 phases to cover the distance of 58.19 km. The 2A phase connects the Central Silk Board Junction and K.R. Puram and phase 2B connects the K.R. Puram with Airport via Hebbal Junction.
This project is planned to be completed in 54 months. This is implemented for decongesting the city as it holds 40% of India's IT exports and the infrastructure of the city was heavily stressed due to the more number of private vehicles and the number of construction adds on this situation.
