The Covid-19 pandemic has led to a surge in the adoption of cash withdrawals through Aadhar-enabled Payment Systems (AePS) that have doubled since last year, replacing the age-old dependence on teller machines.

With very little ATMs deployed in rural areas in the country, account holders are growing increasingly comfortable withdrawing cash from neighbourhood bank agents and merchant shops which double down as ‘micro-ATM’ points.
Industry experts points that the convenience of setting up these micro ATMs against cost-intensive ATMs are significantly easy and manageable.
